Rome CNN —Italy’s Ministry of Health has banned the popular wellness trend of “puppy yoga” amid concerns that the puppies used in the practice could be exploited and mistreated. Typically, sessions involve puppies roaming around a yoga class and sometimes being incorporated in poses. CNN reached out to several Italian puppy yoga centers for comment with no success. The ruling does not have a legal arena for appeal, a spokesperson for Italy’s health ministry said. CNN —To the tune of a Miles Davis trumpet solo, Menno van Gorp is stepping up his training ahead of this year’s Paris Olympics. “I love to practice on jazz,” van Gorp tells CNN Sport. “I’m building here a dance studio in Rotterdam and I’m working also on the new generation here,” van Gorp explains. In order to qualify for the Games, van Gorp will hope to earn selection via the Olympic Qualifier Series in May and June. “If you want to make art,” says van Gorp, “you want to make something that’s really you – not somebody else.”
